VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, NEW MINISTER TRAINING AVAILABLE!
This ministry serves those parishioners in both nursing and residential homes who are unable to attend Mass. Volunteers bring the Eucharist to the homebound and serve on a rotating basis (normally scheduled every 3 months).
Want to become a Eucharistic Minister? Please contact to Deacon Eric at the parish office or via [email protected].
Already a Eucharistic Minister and want to volunteer for this Outreach Program to bring Communion to nursing homes? Please contact our Pastoral Minister, Leah Grant, at [email protected].
(Current nursing homes served: Langdon Place, Exeter Center, and Riverwoods)
Want someone to bring you Communion? Please contact Karen Schalitz, the Parish Nurse via [email protected], for more information on homebound Eucharistic Ministry.
(Please contact Karen with inquiries on nursing & residential homes in the greater Exeter and Newmarket areas.)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
This is a ministry in which volunteers prepare and serve a meal after a funeral for family and friends of the deceased. Teams are needed for:
- Shoppers: those who will buy what is on the list of needed items.
- Bakers: those who will provide desserts.
- Set up: those who help get the tables and food ready.
- Clean up: those who help tidy up after the meal and package leftovers for the family.
If you would like to get involved in this service of our community members, please contact Leah Grant at [email protected].
If you have lost a loved one, please inquire about Mercy Meals with the priest when making funeral arrangements.
In late October, look for our Turkey, dressed in Donation Feathers in the church entry today! “Pluck” a few to help fill the needs of our neighbors in Exeter and the SAU-16 District!
Feathers are color-coded with the Family # and number of Adults & Children, for your convenience. Be sure to grab the informational sheet provided which outlines specific details and the corresponding ledger of feather colors! If you wish to adopt a whole family, please contact Leah Grant via [email protected].
Food baskets are set to go out on Saturday, November 20th. All food donations may be brought in on 11/19 (perishables go into the refrigerator) or on 11/20 before 11:00am. Please attach your feather to your package(s) so that the correct family will receive your donation. If you would like to contribute but will not be around that weekend, a monetary donation is always appreciated to help offset the cost for missing items. You are always welcome to drop monetary donations off in the tithing Basket or at the Gabriel House office. Please make checks out to St. Michael Parish with “Thanksgiving” in the memo.
A call for volunteers to help package and distribute the baskets will be posted in the coming weeks.
Thank you an advance for your generous donation to help local families this holiday season!
Each November, our Christmas Giving Tree is placed in the entry of the church and is decorated with paper "ornaments" listing the needs for a child/family. Parishioners and visitors are invited to fill these needs by purchasing toys and clothing and returning them to the church for distribution to the children.
Please look for details on adopting a family or contributing to this ministry in the bulletin and in the entrance of the church!
